BONG GO SENDS AID TO BOHOL FIRE VICTIMS

Senator Bong Go, through his team, extended assistance to two fire victims in Barangay Vallehermoso, Carmen, Bohol, as he continued his efforts to support families and individuals recovering from fire-related incidents.

Before the distribution of assistance, Go’s team coordinated with local officials to check the condition of the affected beneficiaries and ensure that support would be given based on their immediate needs.

“Importante pong buhay tayo.”

The seasoned lawmaker emphasized that assisting remains part of his responsibility as a public servant.

The relief effort in Barangay Vallehermoso benefited two fire victims who received essential aid to help them recover from the incident. The assistance included financial support and other basic needs to help the beneficiaries begin rebuilding and moving forward.

Beyond immediate relief, he reiterated the importance of long-term disaster preparedness, especially in communities vulnerable to fires and other emergencies.

Go cited his role as principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the construction of permanent, disaster-resilient evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities nationwide.

He likewise highlighted RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. The law aims to strengthen the country’s firefighting capability through modern equipment, improved training, and enhanced institutional support.

Go maintained that assistance for fire victims must go hand in hand with stronger preparedness measures, improved fire response, and safer evacuation facilities so that affected communities can recover with dignity and greater protection.
