BONG GO SENDS AID TO DISPLACED NUEVA ECIJA WORKERS

Senator Bong Go dispatched his team to extend additional support to displaced workers in Lupao, Nueva Ecija.

Go, adopted son of Nueva Ecija, said in a message.

Held at Umali Gym in Lupao, the displaced workers received snacks, grocery packs, balls, shirts, and pens from Go’s team, in coordination with Mayor Glenda Romano. Select recipients also received shoes.

The 232 qualified beneficiaries then will be receiving short-term employment assistance from the national government after completing ten days of work.

To strengthen worker protection nationwide, the senator filed Senate Bill No. 177. Under the proposed measure, the Rural Employment Assistance Program (REAP) would be established to provide temporary employment opportunities to qualified individuals affected by economic hardship, poverty, displacement, or seasonal unemployment.

In response to the high oil prices, he introduced a proposed measure modeled after the Bayanihan laws enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Go filed SBN 2033, or the proposed Fuel Crisis Immediate Relief and Response Bill, which seeks to provide targeted relief to Filipino households during periods of fuel crisis. The measure proposes deferment of payments for basic utilities such as electricity and water, as well as temporary suspension of mandatory contributions like PhilHealth, SSS, GSIS, etc.
