Camarines Sur’s technology-focused School of the Future is almost complete, and will soon be equipped with world-class facilities designed to upskill young Camsurenos in digital technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, cybersecurity and other future-ready know-how to enable them to compete, innovate and lead in the global cyberspace, Governor LRay Villafuerte said.
Villafuerte said this ultramodern facility, which was already 95% complete as of July, is in the capital of Pili, and is part of the CamSur Uptown Global City Development that is being spearheaded by the provincial local government unit (LGU).
“The School of the Future is now 95% complete, and we will soon begin furnishing it with world-class facilities designed for the next generation,” said Villafuerte in a post on Facebook.
“In just a few months, these classrooms will be filled with young CamSur students whose dreams, talents and potential will shape the future of our province,” he said.
Villafuerte noted that this tech-driven school is not just a beautiful building, but is a facility aimed at “preparing our youth for the jobs of tomorrow.”
“We are not just building classrooms. We are building opportunities. We are building confidence. We are building the future.”
He said this school will support AI-driven learning and digital literacy through partnerships with such institutions as Google and the Department of Education (DepEd).
“The world is changing rapidly. Artificial Intelligence, digital technology, cybersecurity, data analytics, and other future-ready skills are becoming essential across almost every industry,” he said.
“Our goal is to ensure that young Camsurenos are not left behind—they will be ready to compete, innovate, and lead,” he said. “This is why we are building the School of the Future.”
This is because, he said, “Our vision has always been clear: every young CamSur student deserves the opportunity to learn the skills that will open doors to quality jobs and successful careers. As Governor, I believe that the greatest investment we can make in our premier province is not in buildings alone, but in our people, especially young Camsurenos.”
Said the governor: “We are not just building classrooms. We are building opportunities. We are building confidence. We are building the future. And that future starts right here in CamSur.”
This project aligns with the goal of the provincial government to “raise a globally competitive generation of Camsureños who are smarter and super ready for better income opportunities and better lives.”
“We are rebuilding education from the ground up in step with our agenda to equip our youth not only with basic knowledge but with the ICT (information and communications technology) skills as well to make them super ready for—and even make them excel in—the new global digital order,” Villafuerte said.
Villafuerte said this ultramodern facility, which was already 95% complete as of July, is in the capital of Pili, and is part of the CamSur Uptown Global City Development that is being spearheaded by the provincial local government unit (LGU).
He said that with CamSur recognized for having the most community colleges that are operated by LGUs, the provincial government is expanding its free quality tertiary education through the Governor Mariano Villafuerte Community Colleges (GMVCC) in the municipalities of Baao, Libmanan, Tinambac, Siruma, Garchitorena and Caramoan.
More GMVCC campuses are currently being built, he said, in Del Gallego, Lupi, San Jose, Minalabac, Pasacao, Bato and Lagonoy.
And new GMVCC campuses will be put up, too, in San Fernando, Pamplona, Milaor, Goa, Balatan, Ragay, Sipocot, Tigaon, Sagñay, Ocampo and Buhi, he added.
Earlier, President Marcos signed a law converting the Baao Community College (BCC) into the Rinconada State College (RSC), which is envisioned to become a premier institution for graduate, undergraduate and short-term courses on science and technology (S&T), education and other fields of study in the province and the rest of Bicol.
This upgrade from the BCC to the RSC, as provided for in Republic Act (RA) No. 12294, will enable this newly established state college to not only keep its mother campus in Baao but to also establish other campuses elsewhere in the province.
RA 12294 was the result of the Congress-approved measure that was principally authored in the 19th Congress by Rep. Migz Villafuerte and Gov. Villafuerte, who was then a congressman.
This institution was put up by the late Government Reorganization Minister Luis Villafuerte in 2000 when he was still CamSur governor.
When he was still governor, Migz was cited by the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) for being the governor who, on his watch, had put up the most number of community colleges in the country.
