CDO BANS ‘POLITICAL BRANDING’ ON GOV’T PROJECTS

The local government of Cagayan de Oro City has ordered a ban on “political branding” on all government properties.

In a memorandum order, Mayor Rolando Uy directed all department heads to remove names, images, photos, or images of any politician or political parties on all government-owned materials and equipment.

The order also prohibits stickers or any identifiable markings of any public officer on government properties.

“Being an advocate of the ‘Anti Epal Law’ introduced by (former) Senator Emmanuel D. Pacquiao… (the undersigned) adheres to an anti-epal Policy in this current administration.”

“Being an advocate of the ‘Anti Epal Law’ introduced by (former) Senator Emmanuel D. Pacquiao… (the undersigned) adheres to an anti-epal Policy in this current administration,” Uy said.

“Epal” is a slang Filipino word describing people with excessive attention-seeking behavior like placing their names on government projects.

The mayor also cited the 2021 directive of the Anti-Red Tape Authority for local governments to strike out names and faces on public documents.
