CEBU’S PJ GARCIA, TEAM LOPANGU REMAIN BEHIND YORME

“Our convictions matter, not the surveys—and we remain convinced that Isko Moreno is the best candidate for President.”

This according to Dr. Pol Nombre, Visayas Campaign Director for Team Lopangu, one of the many volunteer groups backing the presidential run of Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno, who reiterated the group’s support for the Manila mayor even as surveys show former Sen. Bongbong Marcos leading in surveys in the run-up to the May 2022 polls.

“We threw our support behind Mayor Moreno because he showed, in his two-plus years as Manila mayor, that he is the kind of leader we need in Malacañang: pro-poor, decisive, and innovative,” explained Nombre.

Higit sa tulong, asenso,” said Nombre.

Atty. Adonis Gumahad, Team Lopangu Mindanao Director, said that while their group does not get funds from the Moreno campaign, its members voluntarily use their own funds as they believe in Moreno.

“Hirap kami sa pondo; kadalasan walang pera. Hindi na kami bayad, abonado pa kami. Pero ito ang munting ambag namin para sa bansa,” said Gumahad.

“Walang tulugan. Walang iwanan. Ganyan kami sa Team Lopangu.”

The group emphasized that “the only survey that matters to us is the one that will be held on election day.”

“We urge our countrymen to listen to their hearts and to vote according to their conscience, not according to who is leading in the surveys.”

Among those who also reiterated support for Moreno was Cebu Rep. Pablo John Garcia, who stressed in a statement that “from the start, I have been clear and consistent about my support for Mayor Isko Moreno’s candidacy for President, believing that he is, among the many choices, the most capable and best prepared to lead the country out of this many-pronged crisis that it now faces, and into the future.”

Garcia pointed out that Moreno’s track record and brand of leadership “best exemplify the ideals I see in One Cebu’s candidates for Governor and Vice Govenor: Dili sulti ang pabuhaton; buhat ang pasulti-on”

“I am not known to abandon a comrade-in-arms mid-battle. And I am not about to do so now, in the few years left of my political life.“

Garcia said he intends to continue actively campaigning for Mayor Isko in the remaining days of the campaign, and that to avoid any conflict of interest with his party, One Cebu, he would step down as Secretary General of One Cebu.
