CHARITY WALK MORE ABOUT POVERTY THAN WORLD RECORDS – CASTELO

Quezon City Rep. Winnie Castelo lauded the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for its successful charity walk dubbed as Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty held simultaneously in 43 countries across 18 time zones last Sunday.

“The sight of the multitude of INC members and other participants, estimated at 1.5 million, who converged at Roxas Boulevard was quite touching and moves us to empathize with their genuine desire to band with the Church Admnistration to care for our less-fortunate fellow men and women,” Castelo said.

“This charitable gesture of the INC reaching out to those who need help the most makes us more aware of the condition of our fellow men and women in Africa who are suffering from extreme poverty,” Castelo added.

“The government would also do well to take its cue from the INC and do its share in helping out,” Castelo expressed.

“This is the perfect exemplification of the Christian tenet “Love Thy Neighbor,” Castelo quipped.

Castelo also congratulated the INC for setting new world records as side-achievements in the wake of the charitable event. The church has broken Guinness records for the largest charity walk in a single venue, the largest charity walk in multiple venues, the largest human sentence, the largest human mosaic and the most nationalities taking part in a charity walk.
