CHED LANDS IN LIST OF TRUSTED GOV’T AGENCIES

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) thanked all educational stakeholders for working with the Commission to successfully implement education programs resulting in its inclusion among the Top 10 government agencies with high approval and trust ratings.

According to the 2022 PAHAYAG First Quarter Survey by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc., CHED ranked seventh among the most trusted government agencies with a 41.8% trust rating and ninth among the highest approval ratings with 56.3%.

The survey was conducted from March 30-April 6, 2022. It is a nationwide purposive sampling survey of 1,500 respondents drawn from a research panel of thousands of Filipino registered voters.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines maintained its lead with a 53.4% trust rating, followed by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority with 49.9%; Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, 45.9%; Philippine Air Force, 45.8%; Department of Education and Department of Science and Technology, 41.9%.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development ranked eighth among the most trusted government agencies with 40.2%; the Department of Tourism, 39% and the Department of Public Works and Highways, 38.9%.

AFP also obtained the highest approval with 67.4%, followed by TESDA, 65.8%; BSP, 61.7%; PAF, 60.9%; DSWD, 59.9%; DOST, 57.6%; DPWH and DOT, 57%; CHED, 56.3% and DFA at 55%.

For this year, CHED has been continuously promoting equitable access and ensuring the quality and relevance of higher education institutions and their programs.

To date, 1.6 million Filipino students are no longer paying tuition and miscellaneous fees in more than 200 public universities. Another 500,000 students get the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) to help with their other education needs.

CHED has been aggressively pushing for the improvement of quality education through the SIKAP scholarship program for faculty members, the building of SMART campuses, and the internationalization of HEIs.
