CONTINUE TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT FOR A CONTINUOUS BOUNTY – PIMENTEL

Former Senate President Koko Pimentel III lauded Pangasinan for its environmental campaign, especially on preserving the cleanliness of the seas during Lingayen’s Pista’y Dayat, the thanksgiving festival celebrated every May 1 for an abundant harvest from the sea.

Some of the senatorial bets of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), including Pimentel and former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go joined this year’s Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival).

“Congratulations to Pangasinan. Let us continue to give importance to the bodies of water, especially the seas. Let us continue to protect our environment for a continuous bounty,” said the legislator in his speech.

Go, who was accompanied by actors Philip Salvador, Robin Padilla and Bayani Agbayani, clarified they intended to participate in the annual festivity and not to campaign.

The former presidential aide sang songs together with Padilla and Salvador that garnered an applause from the crowd.

“Let us continue to protect our environment for a continuous bounty.”

“As an adopted son of Pangasinan, I am here to celebrate with you,” he said.

Go also took the opportunity to ask Pangasinenses to continue supporting President Rodrigo Duterte’s fight against illegal drugs and corruption.

“Keep away from drugs. With drugs, it is as if your one foot is already in the grave, so keep away from it,” he said.

Aside from Pimentel and Go, former Philippine National Police chief Bato dela Rosa; former Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino; and Senator Sonny Angara, among others, were also present in the event.

Pista’y Dayat 2019 was started on April 5 alongside the Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Foundation Anniversary) on April 5.

The month-long celebration featured an art and photo exhibit, a hip hop dance competition; a boat painting competition, Limgas na Pangasinan, and different beach activities such as a beach volleyball competition, paragliding, sand sculpting competition, triathlon, among others.
