CONTRACTORS TOLD: CLEAR ROAD CONSTRUCTION SITES

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to issue a notice of violation against a construction company for blocking the flow of vehicular traffic at the construction site.

“Traffic rules against any encroachments and road obstructions apply to all,” Artes said.

Recently, the MMDA also imposed a penalty on a private contractor with road works along EDSA because of obstruction.

“Imposition of fines and penalties against private contractors is not new. It has long been a practice for us to implement such,” Artes said.

“As a matter of fact, we have issued a number of notices of violation against companies and contractors obstructing the road which causes traffic build-up,” he added.

Artes also reminded the contractors to clear construction sites at all times.

Heavy equipment and vehicles must not impede the flow of vehicular traffic or they shall be penalized.
