Senate Committee on Energy Chairman Erwin Tulfo turned over 200 solar streetlights to benefit the municipalities of Coron and Busuanga in Palawan.
The turnover was held at the Busuanga Island Electric Cooperative Inc. (BISELCO) main office and was attended by National Electrification Administration (NEA) Chief Antonio Almeda and Palawan First District Representative Rose Salvame.
“It is my advocacy to equip the entire Palawan with the right devices and facilities for renewable energy use.”
The inaugural turnover is a project of Tulfo with the NEA. This begins the Energy Panel chairman’s advocacy to equip the entire Palawan with the right devices and facilities for renewable energy use.
“I am well-aware of your problem with electricity here which not only affects residential areas, but also the overall peace and order of the place,” the legislator said.
“These solar lights will brighten the community, help authorities to better monitor areas for crime prevention, and ultimately utilize renewable energy,” the lawmaker added.
100 solar streetlights will be for the benefit of Coron while the other 100 will be for Busuanga.
During the said turnover, the Senate Energy Panel Chairman also highlighted the importance of linemen in ensuring energy sufficiency. The senator likewise revealed his plan to push for a “Lineman Day”.

“I am steadfast in ensuring that we remove the system loss charges carried by Filipino consumers,” Tulfo stressed.
“We will slash every cost that is unjustly transferred to ordinary Filipinos’ electricity bills,” he concluded.
