DEPED SET FOR ISO CERTIFICATION – BRIONES

The Department of Education (DepEd), the largest bureaucracy in the Philippines government, is now recommended for ISO Certification.

Under the leadership of Secretary Leonor Briones, the DepEd Central Office, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) Regional Office, Schools Division Office of Biñan, Biñan Elementary School, and Biñan Integrated High School were recommended for ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management Systems after a successful audit conducted by TÜV NORD Philippines, Inc.

“This marks a historical milestone in ensuring the consistent delivery of quality service and fostering continuous improvement to sustain our goal to serve our Filipino learners,” Briones stressed.

Concerned DepEd offices’ management system documents were reviewed on March 25 while the onsite audit was conducted from April 6 to 8, 2022. The pre-assessment audit was also done last March 16 to 18.

The certifying body found DepEd compliant with the standard’s requirements, which includes all relevant documented information that evidences the management’s system’s conformity with all the standards requirements; quality objectives and targets; evaluation of internal audits and management review; and all relevant processes, operational control and the ability to carry them out as planned.

Moreover, TÜV Nord Philippines, Inc, one of the world’s largest inspection, certification, and testing organizations, found zero non-conformities during the audit.

“We are actually moving into what we call a growth mindset.”

“I believe that with this consistent effort of the agency, we are actually moving into what we call growth mindset because as one author mentioned, ‘those with fixed mindsets see failure as the disaster, but with the growth mindset, these are opportunities’,” OIC-Undersecretary for Human Resource and Development Wilfredo Cabral emphasized.

“On behalf of BHROD, we thank the Secretary and the entire Executive and Management Committee members for making this happen,” Cabral added.

He also said that DepEd took note of the comments and opportunities for improvement identified by the auditors.

“We can tap on what we are doing good and look at the different aspects of improvements.”

“We can tap on what we are doing good and look at the different aspects of improvements so that we can realize what we really want to happen for the Department,” Cabral shared.
