DOH LAUNCHES ‘LUSOG ISIP’ ANTI-DRUG ABUSE APP

The Department of Health (DOH), through the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Health Secretary Teddy Herbosa, recently launched the Lusog Isip mobile application at the Ateneo de Manila in observance of the 2023 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

To help persons who use drugs, the DOH implemented programs such as the establishment of drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation facilities, capacity building of rehabilitation practitioners, and evidence-based drug rehabilitation programs and services in the country.

Herbosa explained that the mobile application is a digital tool and uses technology-mediated interventions for mental health and substance abuse. 

The said application, the health chief added, is a community-based drug rehabilitation platform accessible for all aligned to the Secretary’s Eight-Point Action Agenda: Ginhawa ng Isip at Damdamin.

The launching of the Lusog-Isip App 2.0 and the Lusog Isip Kabataan Education (LIKE) is a welcome development in line with the Universal Health Care Law.

Also present during the launching were Department of Education Assistant Secretary Dexter Galban, DOH Assistant Secretary Beverly Lorraine Ho, USAID Deputy Director Yolanda Oliveros, Health Systems Specialist Dr. Joseph Lachica, RenewHealth Chief of Party Dr. Regina Hechanova-Alampay, RenewHealth Deputy Chief of Party Dr. Ivanhoe Escartin,and Ateneo de Manila President Fr. Roberto Yap.

Barbosa disclosed that the DOH will actively work, not only with USAID, but with other national agencies like DepEd, Department of Interior and Local Government and other organizations and sectors to protect every Filipino from the dangers of substance abuse and promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle embodying the core theme of the DOH which is “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga”.
