DOH, QUEZON PARTNER FOR UHC IMPLEMENTATION

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa and Quezon Governor Helen Tan held a meeting recently to forge a national and local government partnership for the full implementation of Universal Health Care.

During the meeting, Herbosa committed to establishing an ambulatory facility that includes dialysis and birthing stations and mobile clinics in every province in order to give people access to different services.

The health chief also stressed that what the country really needs is to bring doctors and services to the people.

“Hospitals should be equipped with trained personnel and sufficient funds in order to prevent the existence of ‘white elephant’ facilities.”

Tan explained that hospitals should be equipped with trained personnel and sufficient funds in order to prevent the existence of “white elephant” facilities.

Moreover, the lady governor suggested that the present cancer program be recalibrated in order to focus on the preventive aspect and do away with the curative approach to treating cancer cases.
