DPWH COMPLETES 2 BRIDGES IN BILIRAN – MERCADO

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has substantially completed the widening of Busali and Moog Bridges in Barangay Busali, Biliran, Biliran with the use of an allocated budget amounting to P20.5 million and P30.6 million, respectively.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado and Senior Undersecretary Rafael Yabut, DPWH Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo said that the additional two lanes will lessen congestion and accommodate the increasing traffic volume now that travel restrictions are lifted.

Mercado said that the bridge widening projects are essential as the Department aims to widen all national roads in the province from two lanes to four lanes.

Meanwhile, Biliran District Engineering Office has already started implementing the widening of the P23.2 million Gueron Bridge along Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road (NCCCR), with funding under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Five more bridges will undergo widening namely Alawihaw Bridge, Cabadiangan Bridge, and Dispo Bridge along Biliran Circumferential Road and Santol Bridge located at NCCCR.
