DPWH COMPLETES 2 FLOOD PUMPING STATIONS – VILLAR

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reported the completion of two flood pumping stations in Malabon City.

DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) director Ador Canlas said the P27-million pumping station projects aim to improve flood management in Malabon City, which often gets swamped the during the rainy season.

According to the DPWH, the projects will benefit residents of barangays Baritan, Concepcion, Muzon, Bayan-bayanan, and parts of Dampalit and Halong-duhat.

“The project is part of our goal to save the lives of people and properties.”

Meanwhile, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the flood control project is part of their goal to protect the lives of people and properties, and to achieve this, they have implemented flood mitigating measures all over the country.

“It is just fitting that we prioritize the construction of flood mitigation projects nationwide.”

“In line with our core goal to save lives and properties, it is just fitting that we prioritize (the) construction of flood mitigation projects nationwide,” Villar said.

“Safety and health conditions of residents in Malabon are now more ensured with the completion of these projects,” the public works chief added.

The two floodpumping station projects in Malabon started in September 2018 and were funded by the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Aside from the pumping stations, the DPWH Malabon-Navotas District Engineering Office (DEO) is undertaking more flood control projects that aim to provide new and modernized flood control facilities.

At present, construction works are ongoing for the completion of river walls on the Malabon-Tullahan River, Pinagkabalian River, and the Malabon-Navotas River.
