DPWH COMPLETES 9 MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDINGS IN ILOILO

Residents of various local communities in the towns of Sta. Barbara, Leon, and Alimodian in central Iloilo now have a better venue for sports and socio-civic activities with multi-purpose buildings constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Complete with necessary amenities, the new covered gyms were built in barangays Camambugan, Balibagan Eoste, and Agusipan in Sta. Barbara; Cuyad and Ulay Bugang in Alimodian; and Isian Victoria, Barasan, Coyugan Sur, and Nagbangi in Leon.

“The nine new buildings will provide residents with a better and more convenient venue for social, religious, political, health and wellness, and recreational activities in their barangays,” said DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno said.

The buildings can also serve as temporary evacuation centers during calamities, as well as temporary storage facilities for crops and agricultural products during harvest season.

Aside from being a conducive venue for social gatherings and barangay affairs, the buildings can also serve as temporary evacuation centers during calamities, especially for families living in flood-prone or landslide-prone areas, as well as temporary storage facilities for crops and agricultural products during harvest season.

DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office implemented the multi-purpose building projects with a collective amount of P44.5 million, funded from the FY 2022 Local Infrastructure Program.
