DPWH COMPLETES MODULAR HOSPITAL IN ILOILO CITY

Staying committed in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) provided the local government of Iloilo with two units of community-based and healthcare facilities in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Tiburcio Canlas, Secretary Roger Mercado said that the modular hospital serves as an extension facility of The Medical City-Iloilo.

The P51.02-million worth buildings add to The Medical City-Iloilo a total of 44 air-conditioned rooms with individual comfort rooms; nurse station, pantry, and storage; donning and doffing areas; as well as medical room and first aid facilities.

It also includes provision of water tank, stand-by generator, sanitation and automatic misting system with thermal scanner, and a CCTV system with LED TV Monitor.

The facilities are now under the management of the Iloilo City government after the DPWH, through Canlas, has turned over the keys to the Iloilo City’s Focal Person for COVID-19, Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna.

“The modular hospital will be utilized not only by COVID-19 patients, but also by healthcare professionals.”

During the ceremony, Canlas stated that the modular hospital will be utilized not only by COVID-19 patients, but also by healthcare professionals.

Meanwhile, Senior Undersecretary Rafael Yabut commended the Western Visayas offices for its swift implementation of the project, which was completed ahead of its target end date by the first week of March.

“The new modular hospital will surely aid the Iloilo government in caring for COVID-19 positive Ilonggos.”

“The new modular hospital, alongside the 32-bed facilities also delivered by the DPWH in Barangay So-oc in Iloilo’s Arevalo district, will surely aid the Iloilo government in caring for COVID-19 positive Ilonggos,” Yabut stressed.

“With this, we hope to lessen the effect and hopefully mitigate COVID-19 resurgence in the area,” he concluded.
