DPWH COMPLETES ROAD SLOPE PROTECTION IN CEBU

A slide-prone portion of Cebu – Balamban – Transcentral Highway is now much safer with the recent completion of a slope protection project along the road in Barangay Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, citing a report from DPWH Cebu 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO), said that the newly-completed project involves the construction of a road slope protection structure measuring 229 meters by 5.15 meters that covers an area of 1,180 square meters as well as a soil rock fall protection covering an area of 6,025 square meters.

“This engineering intervention will help stabilize the soil condition in this particular road section and prevent future soil collapse or landslide that could cause road inaccessibility/closure and accidents to road users in this mountainous road,” Villar said.

“Adding road safety features will ensure protection of the riding public as well as prevent the early deterioration of our existing public structures.”

“Adding road safety features will ensure protection of the riding public as well as prevent the early deterioration of our existing public structures,” the public works chief added.

The road slope-protection project has received an allocation of P100 Million from the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and was implemented in February 2020 to November 2020.
