DPWH FINISHES CAGAYAN FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed the Dugo Flood Control Structure to safeguard residential and agricultural areas from the hazards posed by the overflowing of the channel of Abulug River leading to flooding of adjoining areas in Abulug, Cagayan.

Based on the report of DPWH Cagayan 2nd District Engineering Office to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, the newly completed flood control project, which spans 128.8-meter-long, is composed of a structural concrete revetment supported by combined steel sheet piles and bored piles with hexapod blocks in Barangay Dugo.

“The newly completed flood control project, which spans 128.8-meter-long, is composed of a structural concrete revetment supported by combined steel sheet piles and bored piles with hexapod blocks in Barangay Dugo.”

The construction of the Dugo Flood Control Project was implemented to prevent the overflowing of the Abulug River during the rainy and typhoon season.

“The flood control project along this area of Abulug River provides a sense of security to the residents in the low-lying Barangay Dugo and protects the livelihoods from the consequences of natural calamities,” Bonoan said.

Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project was completed in the amount of P67.55 million.
