DPWH FINISHES ISABELA FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently built a gabion wall-type structure in Barangay Camasi, Tumauini, Isabela to avoid the overflow of Balasig Creek.

DPWH Isabela First District Engineering Office (IFDEO) carried out the project with an allocation of P19.5 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA). The project measuring 402 meters was completed in May 2023.

“The project will prevent the subsidence of the farmland into the river that maintains the slope to protect nearby communities from the overflowing of water from the river,” DPWH-IFDEO District Engineer Deoferio Vehemente. Jr. said.

“These kinds of projects will continue to be implemented to help the communities along the river-bank become more resilient to floods and calamities.”

Two more river-control projects recently commenced along Cagayan River in Barangay Naguilian Sur in Ilagan City, Isabela and Barangay Fugu Abajo, Tumauini, Isabela.
