DPWH HELPS NUEVA ECIJA TOWN WITH FLOOD CONTROL

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a protective structure along a local creek in Barangay Nagpandayan, Guimba, Nueva Ecija to protect residents from inundation.

DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that the 570-meter long slope protection structures were built on both sides of the Cassanova Creek, which usually overflows during heavy rains.

“The 570-meter long slope protection structures were built on both sides of the Cassanova Creek, which usually overflows during heavy rains.”

“The community’s agricultural land and neighboring residential areas are now adequately protected against recurring flood due to the efficient management of the creek’s flow,” Tolentino stressed.

Aside from constructing flood mitigation structures along the Cassanova Creek, box culverts and a 94-meter roadway that also acts as a passageway were also installed to provide vehicles and pedestrians safe crossing over the creek.

The project was implemented by DPWH Nueva Ecija First District Engineering Office (DEO) in the amount of P67.55 million with funding sourced from the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
