DPWH IMPROVES ROAD TO IFUGAO’S MT. ATUGO – VILLAR

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that more tourists can enjoy their visit to Mt. Atugo and other tourism destinations in Ifugao with the improvement of the Lagawe-Hingyon Road in the province.

“The reduced travel time and improved accessibility between Lagawe and Hingyon is expected to provide tourism boost and growth of industries in Ifugao,” Villar explained.

Based on a report from DPWH Ifugao First District Engineer Rommel Fabi, the construction of Lagawe – Hingyon Road via Burnay will connect the Provincial Capital of Lagawe and adjacent Municipality of Hingyon.

It involved concreting and widening of a 634.50-meter, two lane road funded with a total of P14 million from the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Aside from Mount Atugo, other emerging tourism sites made accessible by the project and can boost the livelihood of residents include Mt. Amyangyang, Lilit Falls, Bintakan Cave, and Umalbong Rice Terraces.
