The Asaklat “Lakab” Cave will soon be recognized as one of the many hidden tourism treasures of Quirino Province once the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completes paving the road going to the site located in the municipality of Nagtipunan.
“Nagtipunan is truly bestowed with vast natural resources, hence, one of the DOT-DPWH Convergence and Special Support Program (CSSP) objectives is to extend lifeline support and foster tourism industry,” Secretary Mark Villar said.

Phase 1 of the tourism road project costing P15 million which was already completed involves the construction of two-lane portland concrete cement pavement with provision of drainage and slope protection structures along a 600-meter portion of the project.
“The total project length of 10 kilometers is expected to be completed on 2023.”

“By constructing well-paved access roads to more tourist destinations, the local government is given the opportunity to capitalize on potential assets contributory to regaining the economy from the COVID-19 crisis,” Villar added.
The road project is being implemented under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) of the Department and funded under the General Appropriation Act (GAA) of 2020.
