The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has taken the initial steps to begin the development of the Flood Mitigation Master Plan for Tarlac to alleviate severe flooding in the province.
DPWH is conducting the project together with various representatives of the national, local, and provincial governments.
According to Secretary Vince Dizon, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the DPWH to coordinate with experts, the private sector and representatives of local governments across the country.
This is to ensure that the projects implemented are scientific and needs-based to mitigate the perversion caused by the floods and ensure that the public fund is used correctly.
“Pwedeng gawan ng paraan, pwedeng maayos.”
“The first step in spending the people’s money the right way is really (through) a science-based approach. Pwedeng gawan ng paraan, pwedeng maayos,” Dizon said.
“Ang problema ng pagbaha ay problema nating lahat.”
“Napakaimportante na magsama-sama tayo, magtulungan tayo, kasi ang problema ng pagbaha ay problema nating lahat,” the public works chief stressed during his meeting with Tarlac Mayor Susan Yap, Governor Christian Yap, Project NOAH Director Dr. Mahar Lagmay, Tarlac Agricultural University President Dr. Silverio Salunson, and representatives of the municipalities of the province.
