A new three-story Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) Complex Building will soon rise in the University of the Philippines – Diliman Campus in Quezon City.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently commenced the construction of the project which has received an allocation of P92.6 million from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“The new building project will replace the old Romulo Hall which served as the previous IIS building.”
According to DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado, the new building project will replace the old Romulo Hall which served as the previous IIS building.
The new IIS Building Complex will be able to provide enough space to house both students and faculty. Aside from classrooms, the complex will have research and faculty offices, a library, museum, mini-auditorium, and a prayer room.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony of the new IIS building were: DPWH Senior Undersecretary Rafael Yabut, Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, Assistant Secretary Wilfredo Mallari, and NCR Regional Director Nomer Abel Canlas, joined by UP Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo, and UP President Danilo Concepcion.
