The provincial government of Eastern Samar awarded cash incentives to medal-winning student-athletes and coaches from the recent Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) meet during the Gawad Tagumpay ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Gym.
The recognition covered athletes from the Borongan City Schools Division and Eastern Samar Schools Division who delivered podium finishes, contributing to the province’s overall performance in the regional competition.
Athletes from the Borongan City Division, known as the Golden Sunrise Warriors, received ₱5,000 for each gold medal, ₱4,000 for silver, and ₱3,000 for bronze.Â

The delegation, composed of 41 athletes and 15 coaches, placed 11th overall with a total of seven gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals. They also received additional cash incentives from Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda.
The Eastern Samar Schools Division’s Vaillant Hawks, which ranked sixth overall, were granted higher incentives, with ₱10,000 for gold, ₱7,000 for silver, and ₱5,000 for bronze.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Samar Schools Division’s Vaillant Hawks, which ranked sixth overall, were granted higher incentives, with ₱10,000 for gold, ₱7,000 for silver, and ₱5,000 for bronze. The team, consisting of 128 athletes and 33 coaches, secured 20 gold, 11 silver, and 24 bronze medals.
Coaches also received separate incentives equivalent to 50 percent of the amount awarded to athletes for each medal won.
Eastern Samar Governor RV Evardone said the incentive program aims to recognize the achievements of student-athletes and encourage continued excellence in sports.
Leading the awarding ceremony were Evardone and Vice Governor Maricar Sison-Goteesan, joined by members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, including Board Member Timmy Campomanes, BM Atty. Byron Suyot, and BM Jun Quelitano.
Also present were Borongan City Councilor Zen Daza, Dr. Katrina Sadac, and a representative of Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, along with Department of Education officials from both schools divisions.
