EASTERN SAMAR MARKS NAT’L ARTS MONTH WITH ‘SIRAK’

In celebration with the National Arts Month this February, the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar with the leadership of Governor Ben Evardone launched “SIRAK” – An Art Exhibit featuring the Local Visual Artists of Eastern Samar at the Lobby of the New Capitol Building, Borongan City, Eastern Samar. 

Talented artists from various parts of Eastern Samar have unveiled their latest creations at the SIRAK – an art exhibit.

Each masterpiece was crafted with passion and skill, resulting in a diverse range of art works on display.

The National Arts Month aims to utilize the creative energies of Estehanon artists for nation-building, integrate the arts into diverse communities, and generate discourse and appreciation for various arts through emerging platforms.

The 2024 theme “Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain” emphasizes that the harvest of a creative Filipino nation is collective.

The opening program started with a ribbon cutting and vibrant performance by the students from the Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School.

This was followed by the welcome message of the Provincial Administrator, Nelson Cortez followed by the message of the governor emphasizing the creativity of the Estehanons. 

“ Yana nagpapatunay la in hiya nga aada ha aton tagsa tagsa iton an kamalikha–on o creativity… He kita ngatanan, halos kada adlaw bsan ano tat ginbubuhat, it’s a form of art … We create, we imagine, we improvise,” Evardone said, ending his message congratulating all the artists who are participating in this art exhibit. 

The program concluded with closing remarks from Vice Governor Maricar Sison-Goteesan, highlighting the diverse talents of the Estehanons, such as their proficiency in performing the famous Kuracha and other traditional dances.
