The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recognized outstanding distribution utilities, power generation companies, and energy solution providers for their commitment to regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and innovation during its 25th Anniversary celebration recently.
Through the conferment of plaques of recognition, the ERC highlighted the vital role of industry partners in advancing a transparent, accountable, and consumer-centered power sector.

“Building a fair, transparent, and consumer-centered energy sector requires the shared commitment of all stakeholders. Compliance with standards, accountability, and the pursuit of innovative solutions are essential in delivering reliable and efficient services to consumers,” Juan said.

Under the Uniform Reportorial Requirements (URR) and Annual Reports Category, the ERC acknowledged 12 distribution utilities (DUs) for their consistent compliance and timely submission of Annual Reports from 2021 to 2025.
The awardees were:
Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC), Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), Bukidnon II Electric Cooperative (BUSECO), Cebu I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO 1), First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO), Leyte II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO 2), La Union Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LUELCO), Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. – Area I (NEECO 2-A1), Quezon II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (QUEZELCO 2), San Jose City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAJELCO), Samar I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAMELCO 1), and South Cotabato I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOCOTECO 1).
The Commission also cited the outstanding performance of entities under the Qualified End-Users (QEs) and Aggregated Capacity Category for their vigorous implementation of the Net-Metering Program and successful empowerment of the highest number of QEs across the three major islands since 2014.
For private distribution utilities (PDUs), the awardees included Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC), and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC), while for electric cooperatives (ECs), the distinguished awardees were Pampanga I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO I), Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO II), and South Cotabato I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOCOTECO I), representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, respectively.
Meanwhile, generation companies were commended under the Allowed Outages Category for maintaining operational reliability and keeping unplanned outages within prescribed limits in 2025.
The Commission cited six facilities:

PanAsia Energy Inc. – 666.680MW Bataan Combined Cycle Power Plant
Mapalad Partners, Inc. – 17.120MW Digos Modular Diesel Power Plant
SN Aboitiz Power – Benguet Inc. – 140.080MW Binga Hydroelectric Power Plant
Maibarara Geothermal Inc.– 32.000MW Maibarara Geothermal Power Plant
Libertad Power and Energy Corporation – 6.000MW LPEC Biomass Power Plant
Moreover, the ERC gave distinction to innovation in the energy sector through the Flexible Energy Solution Category, awarding SMGP BESS Power Inc. (SBPI) for having been issued the Certificate of Compliance (COC) for the country’s first stand-alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)-the Masinloc BESS Phase I- and for achieving the largest consolidated stand-alone BESS portfolio in the country, consisting of fourteen (14) BESS facilities with a total installed capacity of 557.994 MW.
The recognition reflects the ERC’s continued commitment to strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders, promoting regulatory compliance, encouraging innovation, and advancing a more resilient and consumer-focused electricity sector.
