FRASCO JOINS CEBU’S PASIGARBO SA SUGBU 2023

Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023, the showcase festival of the Cebu Government held at the New Carcar City Sports Complex, demonstrated the Cebuanos’ deep affection for the country, as the performances embodied the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) “Love The Philippines” campaign.

The participating contingents displayed their support for the tourism campaign through various means, such as incorporating the Barabara font into their key visuals, using the Love the Philippines colormark, and presenting a local rendition of what there is to love in each of their cities or municipalities.

The festival was joined by notable figures including First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, Vice President Sara Duterte, Senators Lito Lapid and Bong Revilla Jr., Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Cebu Province Governor Gwen Garcia, Deputy Speaker Duke Frasco, and TIEZA COO Mark Lapid. 

The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, a brainchild of Governor Garcia, provided employment opportunities for local creative artisans, craftsmen, choreographers, local textile manufacturers, and regional event service suppliers, including those in the arts, crafts, food, and more.  

“Through our festivals that commemorate our culture as Cebuanos, we celebrate our faith in Sto. Niño and our respective patron saints, and herald the identity of each and every one of our local government units.”

You give pride to the Philippines,” the tourism chief told paf.

The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is expected to boost Cebu Province’s tourism industry for both domestic and international visitors, and is one of the highlights of the Capitol’s 454th founding anniversary celebration. 

A total of 50 contingents from Cebu Province’s component cities and municipalities signed up for the street dancing competition and the grand ritual showdown, with the host city, Carcar, defending its championship title. 

The honors contested during the festival include Best in Decorated Float, Best in Festival Jingle, Best in Costume, Top 5 Best in Street Dancing, and Top 10 Best in Grand Showdown.
