FRASCO JOINS LAUNCH OF NEW CALAPAN CITY PARK

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco served as the guest of honor during the inauguration ceremony of the Plaza del Gobernador: Liwasan ng Mamamayan, a new public park and recreational area in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. 

In her inspirational message, Frasco commended Governor Bonz Dolor’s leadership and love for his fellow Mindoreños.

“Nakikita ko po from your Governor (Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor) to all of your officials, the strength of the Filipino people is alive and well in the people of Oriental Mindoro. My heart is filled with happiness and hope because I can see that despite everything that you have been through and are still going through, the people of Oriental Mindoro will not be defeated. The people of Oriental Mindoro have already risen back stronger than ever,” the tourism chief remarked. 

“Sa hirap ng buhay, ang mga tao dito sa Oriental Mindoro ay masaya, masaya dahil laging may pag-asa.”

“I came here extending my hand of collaboration to your governor. Dahil nakita ko po ang vision po nya para sa probinsya nyo is that the quality of life of the people elevates, na may livelihood kayo, that you have places of leisure, places of entertainment at pinakaimportante po sa hirap ng buhay, ang mga tao dito sa Oriental Mindoro ay masaya, masaya dahil laging may pag-asa,” the tourism head added.  

The 5,175-square-meter Liwasan is expected to provide benefits to the province through community revitalization, engagement, promotion of public health and wellness, promotion of culture and the arts, and economic benefits like tourism, an increase in property values, and the generation of sales activities.

The Liwasan has the first-ever musical dancing fountain in the MIMAROPA region.

Oriental Mindoro Vice Governor Ejay Falcon, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, Municipal Mayors and Vice Mayors, local officials, and former Provincial Government officials, Provincial Government Department Heads headed by Provincial Administrator Hubbert Dolor and personnel, Tourism Officers of the Province, DOT Undersecretary Shahlimar Tamano, Director Judilyn Quiachon, Director Ronald Conopio, OIC Director Arlene Alipio, Capitol Press Corps, and local spectators also witnessed the inauguration which coincided with the maiden Pandang Gitab Grand Santacruzan as part of the Pandang Gitab Oriental Mindoro 2023.  

31 sagalas from different government and civic organizations flaunted their fashionable costumes and colorful arc from Sto. Niño Cathedral up to the Liwasan ng Mamamayan during the Grand Santacruzan.
