GAB BACKS PH PROFESSIONAL PICKLEBALL GROWTH

The Games and Amusements Board (GAB), led by Chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera, convened with the country’s top pickleball leagues and the national federation to advance coordination measures for professional pickleball in the Philippines.

Representatives from the Maharlika Pilipinas Pickleball Tour (MPPT), Pickleyard Conference League (PYCL), and the Philippine Pickleball Federation (PPF) joined GAB officials to discuss:

  • Defining professional vs. amateur athletes under GAB–PSC Joint Resolution No. 2020‐001
  • Licensing requirements for athletes and sports practitioners
  • A unified digital platform for player records and rankings
  • National team development and international representation
  • Standardization of rules, officiating, and certification

“Our main objective is to promote the pickleball community together. We love the sport and want everyone to be in sync with one another,” MPPT Commissioner Mark Espinosa emphasized.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among GAB, MPPT, PYCL, and PPF to strengthen collaboration, set clear standards, and support the sustainable growth of professional pickleball in the country.

“Please feel free to communicate with us. We can always meet and discuss so we can adopt the best standards possible for the benefit of everybody,” Rivera said.
