GAB TO GO AFTER ILLEGAL ONLINE HORSE RACE BETTING

The Games and Amusements Board (GAB), led by Chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera together with Commissioners Atty. Manuel Plaza III and Angel Bautista, welcomed Philippine Jockey Club, Inc. (PJCI) Chief Operating Officer Allan Abesamis during a courtesy visit at the GAB Central Office.

The meeting highlighted PJCI’s upcoming races, proposed innovations in horse racing betting formats, and discussions on regulatory compliance. 

Rivera also addressed PJCI’s report on unauthorized online horse racing betting operations. 

Following investigations by the HRBSD and the Anti‑Illegal Gambling Unit (AIGU), GAB formally acted by requesting the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to shut down digital platforms engaged in such illegal betting activities.

“We are committed to safeguarding the integrity of Philippine horse racing, while championing responsible and innovative betting practices.”

In closing, he reaffirmed GAB’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Philippine horse racing, while championing responsible and innovative betting practices. 

Rivera underscored that these efforts are central to supporting the continued growth and modernization of the sport, ensuring that horse racing remains a trusted, competitive, and celebrated tradition in the country.

Also present during the were Horse Racing Betting Supervision Division (HRBSD) Chief, Virginia Macasero, and Senior Sports and Games Regulation Officer, Jei Sevilla.
