GATCHALIAN WANTS FOCUS ON LEARNING RECOVERY

As public schools welcome around 28 million learners for the opening of School Year 2026-2027, Senate President Pro Tempore Senator Win Gatchalian pressed the need to accelerate learning recovery.

Gatchalian reiterated that this school year offers the opportunity to strengthen the implementation of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program, which will give struggling learners access to tutorial sessions and help them catch up on mastering essential competencies.

“The historic P8.9 billion budget for the program seeks to support 6.7 million learners in Reading and 8.08 million learners in Math.”

The veteran legislator cited the historic P8.9 billion budget for the program, which seeks to support 6.7 million learners in Reading and 8.08 million learners in Math.

The budget also provides for the hiring of 440,000 tutors.

The rollout of the three-term calendar also aims to strengthen the implementation of the ARAL Program. Each term will include an end-of-term block focused on remediation, enrichment, co-curricular activities, teacher training, and wellness breaks.

“Sa pagbubukas ng panibagong taon ng pag-aaral, kailangang tiyakin nating nabibigyan ng sapat na suporta ang bawat mag-aaral, lalo na ang mga nahihirapang makahabol sa klase.”
