With the Philippines set to co-host the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Senator Bong Go has urged the Philippine Sports Commission to put its resources to good use by promoting the welfare of Filipino athletes and ensuring the investment on sports will benefit the country.

The legislator urged the PSC to place a higher priority on the welfare of the Filipino athletes and to ensure that their budget is beneficial to the Philippines and is spent here to stimulate the local economy.

“Kung hosting man po, magagamit to promote our tourism.

The Philippines will co-host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup with Japan and Indonesia, which will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the Mall of Asia Arena from August 25 to September 10 next year. The country will also host the final phase of the competition.

“Ito pong hosting ng FIBA World… it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

“I think may naidagdag din pong pondo sa hosting ng FIBA World dahil napaka-importante po nito sa atin, ito pong hosting ng FIBA World dahil, kumbaga, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he shared.

“Tatlo po tayong nag-host, Indonesia, Japan and Philippines. Ibig sabihin, ‘yung top 8. It’s a golden opportunity for us na makita ‘yung top 8 sa FIBA World,” Go added.

Go expressed his confidence that the country will do an excellent job hosting the sports event and would make every Filipino proud.
