HERBOSA: IMPROVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN VISAYAS

Health Secretary Teddy Herbosa led the two-day caravan of the “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign in Eastern Visayas recently.

Joining Herbosa was Health Undersecretary Maria Francia Laxamana.

The health chief visited the Biliran Provincial Hospital (BPH) to meet with BPH head Dr. Joyce Cañeja to check on the health facilities and equipment augmented to the provincial hospital. The team also proceeded to the site of the new BPH, which is currently under construction.

Herbosa, Laxamana, along with other officials from the DOH Central Office and the Center for Health Development – Eastern Visayas, also made rounds to the DOH-Treatment and Rehabilitation Center – Dulag and the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC).

The officials were welcomed by DOH-TRC Dulag Hospital chief Dr. Portia Gravoso-Aliposa, and EVMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Salvador Evardone, respectively.

Further, they also toured the facility and specialty centers of the EVMC and talked with the different department heads to know their best practices, innovations, and operational difficulties and to further give instructions on how to improve their strategies in maintaining the quality of their service delivery.

“Our visit to these facilities highlighted the need to check and improve on the services offered to the nearby communities.”

At the GBTRGHSC, Herbosa also discussed his 8-point Action Agenda, infrastructure, and health facilities enhancement goals for the said hospital.

“Rest assured that the DOH will continue on pushing for eased and affordable healthcare services for all Filipinos, wherever they may be in the country,” he concluded.
