HOUSE OPENS MINI PARK IN HONOR OF DR. JOSE RIZAL

The House of Representatives inaugurated recently a mini park in honor of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal at the HRep Complex.

“We are happy to announce that our national pride will have the House of Representatives as his home. A mini-Rizal Park for everyone to see and visit, so we may remember his contributions to the country and the Filipino people,” declared Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga Representative Dong Gonzales, Jr., representing Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

The unveiling of a statue of Dr. Jose Rizal highlighted the inauguration of the mini-park.

Gonzales, in the program that followed the inauguration, praised how Dr. Rizal demonstrated his heroism.

“Nagpamalas ng tapang at kabayanihan ng mga Pilipino na ang sandatang ginamit sa pakikidigma ay ang talim ng kaniyang mga salita sa kanyang mga isinulat laban sa mga mang-aapi.”

Minority Leader Nonoy Libanan, in a message conveyed by his son-in-law former Eastern Samar Vice Governor Christopher Sheen Gonzales, shared that the idea to have a mini Rizal Park and a Rizal monument at the HRep was broached by the KOR Batasan when they visited his office. He saw merit in the idea.

“To pay tribute to our national hero is only proper and fitting. He was after all a catalyst who solidified and embodied the values of nationalism and patriotism,” Libanan stressed.

Secretary-General Reginald Velasco, who joined Gonzales in the ribbon cutting ceremony, welcomed everyone who attended the inauguration, which proceeded despite rains.

The KOR Batasan Chapter was established in 2021.
