ILOILO CITY MARKET VENDORS GET BUSINESS TRAINING

The Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) Office, in collaboration with the Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO), and BDO Foundation held a Completion Ceremony for the 3rd Batch of 22 Uswag Negosyo Academy (UNA) trainees at the City Mayor’s Office, Iloilo City Hall recently.

The market vendors have completed six sessions of training to help foster the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“The training helped us to be more equipped, knowledgeable, and skilled in our business and gain insights on how to properly handle finances and expenses.”

To sustain the improvement in MSMEs’ competitiveness and as part of the agreement between the City Government and BDO Foundation, BDO Network Bank Iloilo facilitated their respective BDO Kabayan Accounts.

The P5,000 given by BDO Foundation to the completers will serve as additional capital for their businesses and be deposited in their accounts.

This will also encourage MSMEs to practice financial literacy, which will help them save money and manage their expenses on a day-to-day basis.

Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the efforts of offices and private companies for their big support.

“Congratulations to our UNA graduates! I am grateful for the efforts of LEDIP, LEEO, and BDO Foundation, for the trainings of market vendors. I am happy they have graduated with many learnings in financial literacy, food safety and handling, and customer service that will help in leveling up market services,” said Treñas.

UNA aims to tap MSMEs to participate, foster business initiation, sustainability, and resilience involving multi-stakeholder partnerships, and improve their marketability in the metro.
