KIDAPAWAN CITY BAGS DOE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AWARD

Kidapawan City is the country’s city model for the best practice in energy efficiency.

Mayor Jose Paolo Evangelista received from Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla the 2022 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award for the City Government category.

“The award reflects Kidapawan’s commitment to serve better with less expense from government funds,” Evangelista said.

The mayor enumerated how their city saved on energy.

“These efficiency measures saved the city at least 17,805 kWh on electricity and 56,822 liters on fuel consumption.”

This was done by properly using air conditioning units, computers, lights, and other electric devices in offices and facilities owned by the city government.

Kidapawan City also had light emitting diode (LED) bulbs and solar lights installed along the city streets.

Vehicles owned by the city government are equipped with Global Positioning System to monitor the consumption of oil usage.
