LAPID LAUDS JOHN ARCILLA FOR VENICE FILM WIN

Senator Lito Lapid has filed P.S. Res No. 903 to congratulate and commend Romeo “John” Gonzales Arcilla for winning the Volpi Cup for Best Actor in the 78th Venice International Film Festival.

Filipino actor Arcilla portrayed the character of Sisoy Salas in the Filipino film “On the Job: The Missing 8” and he became the very first Filipino who bagged this prestigious recognition.

The Venice International Film Festival is the world’s oldest film festival and is considered as one of the “Big Three,” alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, that ascribe international fame to outstanding artists and creators in film.

The 78th Venice International Film Festival was held from September 1 to 11, 2021 showcasing 92 films from all over the world.

A Filipino film, Erik Matti’s “On the Job: The Missing 8,” was included in the 21 feature-length films in the festival’s main competition.

Lapid hopes the Senate will adopt the resolution to congratulate and commend Arcilla for his victory and success in the said prestigious award-giving body.
