LEGARDA HOSTS MISS EARTH BEAUTIES IN ANTIQUE

Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, in collaboration with the Office of Congressman Antonio Legarda, once again hosted the Miss Philippines Earth (MPE) candidates in her home province, Antique.

Twenty-Nine (29) beautiful Filipinas visited the province from April 20 to 21, as Antique continues to be one of MPE’s environmental partners under this year’s theme, “MPE Heritage,” with a strong commitment to environmental protection and cultural preservation.

Legarda, who supported the candidates’ visit to the province, reiterated the importance of human intervention in preserving and caring for the environment and upholding the protection of the country’s rich culture – both tangible and intangible.

“Our heritage reflects not just our history but the relationship of our present lives to the past.”

“Our heritage reflects not just our history but the relationship of our present lives to the past. It shows our way of life and exposes our values as people – values which are relevant now and will still be relevant tomorrow,” the veteran legislator said.

The candidates of the 2024 MPE were able to experience and explore Antique’s natural and cultural attractions.

They got a chance to immerse themselves in the province’s rich history and environment. They visited the mangroves and Ati Weaving Community in Libertad, Sto. Rosario Weaving Center in Pandan; the University of Antique – Tibiao Campus; Madja-as Park in Culasi; and Malumpati Health Spring and Tourist Resort in Pandan, and Gabaldon Building at Pandan Central School, among many others.

“You will meet people of different backgrounds and face different stories.”

“You will meet people of different backgrounds and face different stories. My only request is that you share what you learn here in Antique with the rest of the Philippines and the rest of the world,” the seasoned lawmaker said in her message for the candidates.

Since its establishment in 2001, Miss Philippines Earth continues to be an organization that aims to raise awareness about environmental issues while promoting sustainable practices through the pageant’s advocacies and activities.

Through the pageant’s strong desire to make changes in society, they hope to positively impact and create a more sustainable future for all.

The Miss Philippines Earth 2024 coronation night will be on May 11, 2024 in Talakag, Bukidnon.
