The municipal government of Lingayen, Pangasinan is set to open a new isolation facility at the Lingayen Central School.

Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil said the new facility with a 50-bed capacity will accommodate mild and emergency coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases while they are waiting to be admitted to the hospitals.

“We are targeting to open the facility within the week. It was already approved by the Department of Education and we are working for the accreditation from the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force and the Department of Health (DOH),” Bataoil said.

“We hiring additional nurses and other healthcare workers for the facility.”

He said they are hiring additional nurses and other healthcare workers for the facility as the number of COVID-19 cases in the province continues to increase.

Municipal Information Office head Mae Viray-Rueda explained the DOH has provided it with a list of equipment that should be included in the facility, such as oxygen tanks.

“This is to ensure that the patients are comfortable waiting for admission to hospitals, so they need not stay in tents.”
