LUBUAGAN BAGS GAWAD KALASAG SEAL OF EXCELLENCE

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of the Civil Defense – Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD- CAR) conferred awards to Local Government Units, Civil Society Organizations, schools, volunteers, groups, and individuals who exemplified excellence in disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance.

The Local Government Unit of Lubuagan, Kalinga proudly received the prestigious Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence- Fully Compliant Local Government Unit Award.

This is in recognition of its unwavering commitment to disaster and risk reduction management. The municipality was applauded for its exceptional performance in the Local DRRM Council and Office category.

Lubuagan Mayor Joel Tagaotao and Vice Mayor Alonzo Saclag Jr. accompanied by the Municipal DRRM Officer Romel Salbang together with Municipal Councilor Angelito Anton received the award. 

Tagaotao said the award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of different LGU department offices, the Municipal DRRM team, and the vigilance of the community.

He expressed his gratitude for the honor, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the entire community in building resilience and being prepared in times of emergency. 

Meanwhile, Saclag said the award comes as a validation of LGU-Lubuagan’s comprehensive and proactive approach to disaster and risk reduction management, outstanding initiatives, innovations, and effectiveness in DRRM and humanitarian assistance.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Romel Salbang gave assurance that they will continue to serve the people with the highest dedication and enthusiasm as they work to realize their vision for safer, adaptive, disaster-resilient Ylubuagen communities towards sustainable development. 

The 23rd Cordillera Gawad Kalasag Awarding ceremony was held at M-Hotel, Tabuk City, a first time that the event took place outside Baguio City after 20 years and the first time to be hosted by the provincial government of Kalinga.
