MANILA GOV’T GIVES STA. CRUZ FIRE VICTIMS CASH AID

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno took time out from his presidential campaign to assist victims of a fire that struck a residential area along New Antipolo St. in Sta. Ana, Manila.

The mayor gave each affected family P10,000 in financial assistance. Moreno was accompanied by Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan.

“Basta lahat ng pamilyang nasunugan, lahat kayo tatanggap ng tig-sasampung libong piso.”

“Bawat isa sa inyo, nangungupahan, may-ari ng bahay, basta lahat ng pamilyang nasunugan, lahat kayo tatanggap ng tig-sasampung libong piso (Each one of you, renter, house owner, all families who have been victims of this fire incident, you will receive P10,000),” Moreno told the victims.

The mayor advised the fire victims to prioritize the purchase of construction materials, like roofing and plywood, so they can rebuild their houses as soon as possible.

The six-hour fire gutted an old three-story residential building made of light materials.

Four were injured, one died, and damage was estimated at P100,000.

“Aso nga naghahanap ng masisilungan kapag umuulan.”

“Ako, gusto ko makabalik kayo kaagad. Aso nga naghahanap ng masisilungan kapag umuulan. May awa ang Diyos, andito lang kami. Basta pipilitin naming kayo ay maitawid sa krisis na ito. Makakaraos din tayo (I want you to get back on your feet immediately. Even dogs try look for shelter when it’s raining. Have faith in God, we are here, and we will try to help you get through this crisis. We will survive this),” he told the victims.
