MASBATE TOURIST SPOT ACCESS ROAD NOW 89% COMPLETE

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on an access road that leads to Pasiagon Beach, Balay na Bato, and Esperanza Sea Port in the province of Masbate.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office V Director Virgilio Eduarte, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that the road forms part of the construction and improvement of Esperanza-Placer Road which is a project under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) of the DPWH in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT).

“Once completed, this will allow better access to the various tourist destinations in the town of Placer and Esperanza, creating more job and income opportunities in the area.”

The two-lane concrete road seawall project, which is currently being built in the coastal portion of Barangays Masbaranon, Villa, Agoho, Sorosimbahan and Domorog in the municipality of Esperanza and will soon be built in Barangay Naocondiot and Taboc in the municipality of Placer, will also serve as the first line of defense against waves for the coastal area.

The project is targeted to be completed by January 2024.

DPWH Masbate 3rd District Engineering Office has so far accomplished 89 percent of the ongoing tourism road project which has received an allocation of P144.8 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act. The project is targeted to be completed by January 2024.

Esperanza-Placer Road is a multi-year project which began construction in 2016.

It is envisioned as a 51.564-kilometer road from Barangay Poblacion, Esperanza to Barangay Daan-Lungsod, Placer.

Since 2016, DPWH has so far completed 15-kilometer of the project.
