Music & Movies

Mondays usually set the tone for how the rest of the week would go. With that, we prepared a few songs for you to listen to, so you can get into your best mood. Making yourself feel good and confident works wonders for your productivity and can keep you motivated to do even the most boring tasks. Especially if you’re working collaboratively with other people, being in a good mood can improve your overall energy and synergy as a team.

The list below contains only a few songs to start the week with. Not all of them are necessarily good songs to listen to while working, some songs can be distracting but they do well in making us feel good and energized!

1. Lovely Day by Bill Withers

Set your alarm to Lovely Day for that smooth tune to gently nudge you back into consciousness. Lovely day is a really feel-good song that can be a dedication to any loved one (or yourself), that as long as you have them, every day is a lovely day. If you also have this song as an alarm, it’s a really good song and can keep you from hitting that OFF button.

2. Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles

Followed by another feel-good selection! Here Comes The Sun is the perfect song to start the day with — for new beginnings or putting the bad or sad past behind. The sun is out after a long, cold, and lonely winter. It’s a new day, anything is possible!

3. Brave by Sara Bareilles

We move past the gentle songs towards the more energetic songs. Energizing songs are perfect for hyping yourself up for the workday as it helps to make you feel less groggy and be able to handle your focus a lot better. This is one of the songs I love dancing to. Brave by Sara Bareilles has a really good beat to it and talks about being brave enough to be unapologetically you.

4. Good as Hell by Lizzo

This is a really uplifting song and one of the newer feel-good songs. The song is mostly about comforting a friend or someone you care about who just got dumped (“If he don’t love you anymore, Just walk your fine ass out the door”) and the assurance that you (the friend) will be there to help them get through it.

5. Work from Home by Fifth Harmony (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)

Not much about the lyrics because it does talk about not going to work. BUT the song has a really good bounce to it and is a really fun song to listen to while preparing to work.

6. Turn Down For What by DJ Snake, Lil Jon

Probably the loudest song on this list, Turn Down For What is one of the songs that keeps the momentum and excitement going, which makes sense because the song is about keeping the party going. I really like that it has a really heavy bass track.

7. Shut up and Dance by Walk the Moon

We’re picking it up again with something less party and going back to the bounce. Through the song lyrics, the song can mean meeting someone you feel a connection with and overthinking that connection but that sometimes all you need to do is be in that moment. Shut up and dance. And dance we do! This song is really catchy and a good beat to dance to.

8. Raise Your Glass by Pink

Ode to one of the earliest songs is another bop that celebrates being true to yourself and being confident about who you are. It’s about all the underdogs, those outcasted from “norms” banding together and being there for each other and raising their glasses for each other. It’s catchy and really fun to sing along with, with a good lesson too!

9. Geronimo by Sheppard

The tune of this song is light and can be confusing for people who don’t understand the context of the lyrics (as it does have bombs and diving into waterfalls). But “bombs away!” and “Geronimo!” are both expressions used to express that they are fearless. The song is about a confession and the singer asking the listener if they could take the leap.
