MMDA AWARDS ART, PHOTOGRAPHY TILT WINNERS

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the winners of the metro-wide art, photography, and songwriting contests carrying the theme “I Love Metro Manila (MM)” aimed at showcasing the National Capital Region’s growth and development.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes congratulated the winners of the contests launched to raise public awareness about past and recent developments in Metro Manila, and as a way to show how Metro Manila is rising above the challenges brought by the pandemic.

“This year, we are gearing up to make this bigger by institutionalizing the holding of art and photography contests.”  

“We are pleased to present the winners of the “I Love Metro Manila” contest. This year, we are gearing up to make this bigger by institutionalizing the holding of art and photography contests,” Artes said Artes during the awarding ceremony.

The MMDA chief also thanked all those who participated in the contests which showcased the beauty of Metro Manila through the skills and talents of its residents.

The contests were initiated and conceptualized by former MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos aimed to promote love for the metropolis and showcase its extraordinary sites thru the arts.

The contests were open to all amateur and Filipino artists who are residents of Metro Manila.

1st Place: Golden Hour by Edgardo B. Faro

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST WINNERS- BLACK AND WHITE CATEGORY
1st Place: Progress Through Darkness by Haydn L Calabig
2nd Place: Fun in Dolomite Beach by Rhon Paolo Velarde
3rd Place: River of Life by Jose Melencio Brillo People’s Choice Award: The Serene Manila Bay by Noel C. Eusebio.

SONGWRITING CONTEST WINNERS
1st Place: Nothing Compares to Metro Manila by Job Christian L. Tolonghari
2nd Place: Metro Manila by Rafael Brian del Rosario & Regine Imperial-del Rosario
3rd Place: Jeep Sa Kamaynilaan by Samuel C. Valdecantos People’s Choice Award: Jeep Sa Kamaynilaan by Samuel C. Valdecantos

The prizes for the photography contest are as follows: P50,000 for first place, P30,000 for second place, and P15,000 for third place. People’s Choice Awardee received P10,000.

The winners for the songwriting contest received P100,000 for first place, P50,000 for second place, and P30,000 for third place. People’s Choice Awardee received P20,000.

The winners for the art contest received P100,000 for first place, P50,000 for second place, and P30,000 for third place. People’s Choice Awardee received P20,000.

The “I Love Metro Manila” was launched in November 2021 envisioned to uplift the spirits of its residents recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “I Love Metro Manila” was launched in November 2021 envisioned to uplift the spirits of its residents recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to strengthen initiatives on urban renewal to transform the metropolis to be a more livable, greener, and resilient region.

It is also directed towards urban renewal and provides a solution to insufficient green spaces in the National Capital Region as well as the united pandemic response among the 17 Metro Manila local government units (LGUs).

In the same event, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) held its appreciation night to honor the MMFF 2021 winners and launched the MMFF 2022 to be held in December.

The event was attended by the MMFF Executive Committee and participants of last year’s festival.
