MMDA GETS 1ST HIGHEST AUDIT RATING – LIM

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) received its highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA) for 2019, a first for the agency in 45 years.

The COA gave the MMDA an “unqualified opinion” on the fairness of presentation of the agency’s financial statements for the fiscal year 2019.

MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim expressed gratitude to the COA for acknowledging the reforms he had instituted from his first year in office.

“It validates the agency’s commitment to promote a more prudent and transparent spending of public funds.”

Lim added it validates the agency’s commitment to promote a more prudent and transparent spending of public funds.

“The unqualified opinion obtained by the MMDA means that we have successfully meet the requirements of the auditors. We are now reaping the fruits of the reforms we have made since our first day in office. We are very grateful to COA for recognizing this more than two years after,” the traffic chief said.

The Commission’s unqualified audit opinion is issued when auditors, after thorough examination, conclude that the government agency has fairly and appropriately presented all pertinent documents, without any identified exceptions.

For his part, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia praised the excellent performance of its officers and employees, particularly the Finance and Administrative Service, for attaining this significant and historic achievement.

“This achievement would not have been possible if not for the dedication and hard work of our Office of the Assistant General Manager for Finance and Administration, headed by Assistant Secretary Romando Artes, in terms of ensuring that MMDA’s financial records are compliant to all accounting rules and principles,” Garcia said.

“We will continue these reforms and services especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Lim also vowed to continue these reforms and services especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic and will try to sustain this momentum in the remaining years of his administration.

Last 2018, MMDA also got ISO: 9001:2015 accreditation as part of the agency’s commitment to improve public service under Lim’s administration.
