MMDA GETS 4TH COA’S UNQUALIFIED OPINION

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earned an unqualified opinion for the fourth consecutive year from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the fair presentation of its financial statements for fiscal year 2022.

MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes welcomed the result of the audit, lauding the MMDA workforce for their commitment and dedication to the proper management and use of public funds.

“This audit rating is concrete proof of the MMDA’s transparent governance.”

“We take pride in the four-year streak of unqualified opinions we have received from COA. This audit rating is concrete proof of the MMDA’s transparent governance,” Artes remarked.

“I thank the MMDA officials and employees for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the agency’s services and that public funds are efficiently utilized for the benefit of the public,” the traffic chief added.

The COA transmitted to MMDA a copy of the Independent Auditor’s Report penned by Supervising Auditor Atty. Reynaldo Darang, citing that “in our opinion, the accompanying financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the MMDA as at December 31, 2022, and its financial performance, changes in net assets/equity, cash flows, and the comparison of budget and actual amounts for the year then ended in accordance  with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs)”.

“The audit evidence was sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.”

“We believe that the audit evidence was sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion,” Darang said in the report.

Moving forward, the MMDA continues to push for programs and policies pursuant to its mandates and functions.

Innovative initiatives have been conceptualized and implemented under Artes’ leadership, including the establishment of a Disaster Preparedness Training Center, a Motorcycle Riding Academy, the use of body-worn cameras for traffic enforcers, the EDSA Elevated Walkway, Waste-to-Energy, and the Metro Manila Drainage Master Plan, among others.

The MMDA has also transferred to its newly constructed New Head Office Building in Pasig City, a manifestation of its commitment to strengthen the organization and provide better services to all its partners and stakeholders.
