More than a thousand Child Development Workers (CDWs) from the 31 cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental received their respective salary subsidies for the quarter, worth a total of P5,355,000, as part of the culmination of the Provincial CDW Week held in Bago City recently.
The salary subsidy is among the Provincial Government’s continuing initiatives to improve the welfare of CDWs, along with various programs aimed at recognizing their vital role and supporting their professional and personal well-being.
The activity, themed “Child Development Workers: Pag-asa, Pagkalinga at Pag-unlad Tungo sa Bagong Henerasyon,” was spearheaded by the Federation of Child Development Workers of Negros Occidental, led by its president, Gerald Montaño, and the Negros Occidental Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Chiqui Gonzales.
During the program, Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson recognized the invaluable contributions of Child Development Workers (CDWs) to early childhood care and education.
Lacson emphasized that while parents have the primary responsibility of raising their children, the government also plays a vital role in supporting families to ensure every child’s welfare and development, with CDWs serving as indispensable partners in carrying out this shared responsibility.

The celebration also recognized outstanding Child Development Workers and federations through the Search for “Parangal sa Natatanging Child Development Worker” and the “Search for Outstanding Federation of Child Development Workers”.
