NEGROS OCCIDENTAL SHARES ‘BEST PRACTICES’

The Negros Occidental provincial government has shared its best practices with officials from Romblon led by Governor Jose Riano and Lone District Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona, who came to the province on a two-day learning trip recently.

Riano said their province is looking closely at Negros Occidental’s “One Hospital Command” system and the consignment of medicines in the Capitol-run hospitals, considering that Romblon is a geographically isolated disadvantaged area.

The visit concluded with a gathering at Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia town before the group left for Iloilo City.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he hopes to have effectively imparted the initiatives that helped the province cope with the demands of good governance especially in times of crisis.

“I hope this will be a start of a lasting friendly relations between Romblon and Negros Occidental as we seek to re-open our provinces to investors and tourists.”

Similar to Lacson, Riano had also served as vice governor of Romblon before he was elected governor.

The Romblon officials came to the province for benchmarking and exposure to various projects and programs of Negros Occidental, particularly on hospital operations and economic enterprises.

Aside from visiting the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary, they also went to the Negros Residences in this city and Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Romblon, dubbed as the “Marble Capital of the Philippines” and known for its ecotourism destinations, is part of Region 4-B comprised of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
